The AI resistance needs to do better

I didn’t watch this to the end. But while I do agree with these guys on how AI isn’t the greatest at writing, I think it’s completely myopic to then conclude you should not use it at all, for anything.

Seriously, if you can’t see how powerful and useful the technology is, you haven’t used it enough. Conversely, it you’re not frustrated and disillusioned with some of the things you assumed or wouldn’t be as stupid about, you haven’t used it enough. The sign of a real practitioner of cutting edge AI tools then is a continuous meh-expression, with bouts and recoveries from AI psychosis and frustration. As Huntley likes to say: “If you know, you know.”

There’s more, and I don’t enjoy to say it, but it’s true: this technology is, or has become too important and significant for the economy and politics. Part of that is due to its marketing hype, but factually, the fact that all things digital are very much influenced by this, and what’s going to happen, I’d say you can’t exit the conversation like this. You, or we, are sort of obliged to participate. How would you suppose you’d be staying in touch and keeping your finger on the pulse? Sorry.

On slightly further listening, there is a good portion of confused and sloppy thinking. There’s an author focused on excellence who is jumping on the anti-AI train because it sort of fits his book’s thesis. I’m disappointed. You have to do better. You guys are publishing books. People out there trust you, or your authority.
